Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO) Recycling
Join the Energy Revolution
There are more than 12 million gallons of waste vegetable oil (WVO) thrown out each year in the Houston area alone. This waste product could make more than 10 million gallons of clean, domestic fuel. We are working with local bio diesel manufacturers to create renewable fuel from used cooking oil. Since our effort has such unique aspects, participating restaurants receive added value in addition to a free recycling service. This added value includes: A window decal to advertise participation Direct advertisement at local festivals and environmental events Their name, map, contact info and Web address on the Participants page, and in the media as news outlets report on renewable energy We are in full participation with civic groups, environmental organizations and restaurant associations. As the Summit Oil Recycling program grows, the Houston area will set the model for producing renewable fuel from recycled Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO). If all American cities followed our lead, we would reduce our reliance for on-road diesel by nearly 9 percent. This is the first of many steps to cleaning up our air and becoming free of foreign oil.
